The cottages are situated about 500 metres away from the main house with breathtaking views of the mountain. Cottage no 5/Nigella is close to the house. All cottages have satellite television and wireless internet.

2 Bedrooms available, each with a bathroom (shower only) en-suite. A lounge/kitchen open plan separates the 2 bedrooms and walks out on a veranda with a fireplace/braai area. It faces north and has wonderful views or the Brandwacht mountains.
Available for your convenience is a fridge/freezer, gas stove and oven, microwave, kettle and toaster. There is also basic kitchenware available. The main bedroom has an aircon.
This cottage is for a family with 2 children. The second bedroom has single beds and a low toilet and is not ideal for adults.

This is a semi detached small studio type cottage with a queens size bed, bathroom en-suite and kitchenette. A Small stoep which faces west and greets you with a view to the valley, Du Toitskloof Mountains. It sleeps two with a dividing open plan sleep, lounge and kitchen area. Available for your convenience is a 2 plate gass hob, bar fridge, air fryer, kettle and toaster. There is also basic kitchenware available.

Nigella damascena also known as “Love-In-A-Mist” is a beautiful bloom native to North Africa & Southern Europe; it is one of about twenty species all annual herbs from the Mediterranean region. Several species are cultivated in gardens, however N. Sativa, is grown for its aromatic seeds also known as “black seeds”. Nigella, a diminutive of niger, or “black”, refers to the color of the seeds. Damascena refers to Damascus, Syria, one of the places where this herb is at home. ”Love-in-a-mist” refers to the appearance of the flower in a nest of misty, threadlike foliage.
The seeds taste somewhat spicy (some people note a resemblance to nutmeg) and have been used as a condiment and in confectionery, to flavor wines and snuff, and as an expectorant. They are far less flavorful than those of N. sativa, known as black cumin or fennel flower, which has had a greater culinary and medicinal role than N. damascena.
N. damascena is closely related to N. sativa, which in India, Iran, and elsewhere in the Middle East is beloved at least as much for its culinary and medicinal purposes as for its ornamental value. The seeds are used in and on breads, like sesame seeds and poppy seeds. In India, where nigella seeds are called kalonji or onion seeds (for their appearance, not their flavor), they are briefly fried or toasted and added to pickles, chutneys, and sauces. The seeds are believed to ameliorate digestive, respiratory, rheumatic, and skin problems, and some of these medicinal benefits have been scientifically confirmed.
